Attendees of the 2019 technology seminar

Stephanie Gomez from Stabilized Steps was one of our expert panelists.

On February 7, 2019, the MS Center of SWFl hosted a technology seminar for families dealing with multiple sclerosis. Our panel of experts included representatives from:

Stabilized Steps – a patented device that attaches to the bottom of medical walkers allowing the walkers to be significantly more stable indoors and out in various terrain such as sand, grass, gravel, mud, snow, ice, and all the way into calm ocean waters. These Stabilizers are giving those with mobility issues their independence and freedom to move forward!  Presented by Stephanie Gomez, founder and CEO of Stabilized Steps.

Alexa and Google – Putting them to work for you.  Presented by Paul Bellenoit.

Xtern Foot Drop AFO – an external and less expensive alternative to the internal AFO.  This devise fits on the outside of your shoes – running, work, boots, dress or sandals, and is completely transferable from one type of shoe to another. Presented by Dr. Mollie Venglar.

Power Plate for MS – This revolutionary training technique delivers harmonic vibration to the body, stimulating a neuromuscular response known as reflexive stabilization.  Engineered to activate the body’s natural reflexive response to vibration, Power Plate’s vibrating platform engages muscles in a consistent and controlled manner creating involuntary muscle contractions between 25-40 times per second. Presented by Lisa Dimond of B-Vibrant Wellness Studio.

A question and answer period followed along with the opportunity to try out some of the discussed technologies.
